My experience on this issue from another thread:
When I said that I changed the reservoir, actually it was done by the previous owner the day I bought the car. He told me the revised reservoir have better solved bracket that holds the filter, and because of that filter cannot fall out and clog the flow. The filter is of course located in the reservoir. I am just repeating what I heard and I didn't see it with my own eyes. The steering works fine for more than 1,000 miles. New green oil was poured in the system instead of a red one that was in. Before the change of the reservoir, the system was squeaking and bubbles were present in the reservoir.
