Diesel fuel consumption

Hi ,

Have had a 2.4 JTDM for a few months now , and although performance is great I am concerned about fuel consumption .

After reading a few posts in this regard most people are getting far better figures than me.

Currently I am getting about 12l/100 ( max 600km per tank) . Usually use BP ultra low sulphur diesel . I drive a mixture of city and highway and try to drive conservatively most of the time. Even when trying purposefully to minimise consumption I get no better than about 11l/100km .

Vehicle has +- 5000 km on odo , dealer says this is normal consumption.

How much effect will altitude affect this , Johannesburg is +- 2000 m above sea level.

Any comments as to this will be appreciated.

That sounds v poor - I get about 950km per tank out of my 2.4. I have had my ecu remapped and before this was done I achieved about 875km. I suspect your engine has to work harder at your altitude but that does seem to be a large gap.
