Not Happy Low engine oil pressure- message

Hi guys

Yesterday whilst driving I got the above message (or something similar) on the dashboard. I was driving at about 20 miles an hour in town traffic. The engine cut out and as you can imagine the power assisited steering became inactive. This has previously happened to me but usually as a result of stalling the engine. Yesterday I'm certain that the engine didn't stall, as you can imagine it's a bit worrying that this can happen.

I simply pressed the ignition button and re-started the car and there have been no issues since.

Has anbody else had such an experience- one wonders what the consequences might be if I was in my usual habitat - outside lane of our motorway system !!:

Sounds like you stalled it.
Which will bring the low oil pressure warning up.

What revs & gear at the time?
and what engine?

David-1.9 jtdm third or second gear. I may have been riding the clutch in neutral at the time. I know I'm sometimes guilty of not changing down from 3rd as I find that 2nd just feels so gruff and unresponsive, but stalling it in either 3rd or 2nd seems ridiculous. I've never done this in any other car.

Yup, you stalled it

pssst, did the same yesterday, I wouldn't worry about it
I've found that it can happen at a junction (not very safe) when trying to pull away in 2nd
