Brera Warranty ending: Stiff gears and alarm issues
Afternoon all! Long time lurker here...
I just dropped my almost 3yr-old brera in at the garage for it's first MOT and as the warranty is about to go I asked them to check over a couple of things:
First up, one morning all of a sudden the car stopped beeping on lock/unlock, and the "alarm unavailable" came up when starting. Dealer reckons a few new alarm sensors should fix it, which he's got on order - anyone come across this?
More worryingly, I've noticed the car has recently become very reluctant to slot into 1st/2nd on a cold engine. It works ok once the transmission has warmed up sufficiently, but it's an awful lot stiffer than I remember it was last winter. I asked them to check it out (last thing I wanted was to have to pay out for a new 'box when the warranty expires) - and confusingly the dealer said it needed a new "gearbox tilt sensor". He said this tells the ECU what gear the car is in, and links in with the fuel pump etc etc etc. To me this sounded pretty farfetched. An electrical fault causing stiff gear changes? All sounds unlikely to me - I reckon he's mixing his notes with the alarm system and fudging an explanation.
Bottom line - is this a developing gearbox fault starting to rear it's head? Am I at risk of taking the car away and then having to replace synchros etc in a few weeks time, and where does that sit warranty-wise with me having flagged the issue up whilst it's still in warranty?
Thanks in advance!
