Brera V6 - strange noises
Good Morning All,
Lately I'm starting to get what sounds like a tappety noise from in front of the firewall. Usually happens after a lot of stop start driving. Frequency of the noise increases with rpm and seems to disappear at engine speeds above 3-4k. The noise is very audible from the inside of the car, but hardly audible from the outside, which leads me to think that it's not the engine that's making the noise (but I could very well be wrong). I still however need to stop and take a look under the bonnet when it makes the noise again, to really verify if it's the engine making the noise or not.
Another thing - When starting from stone cold, the engine always needs some 1 -2 minutes before one can rev it past 2000 rpm. It's not that I need loads if revs to get away in the morning, but, if this is some form of engine protection, an extra 1000 rpm would have helped... My 166 v6 needs about half a minute for revs to settle down to idling speed, and then is fine, just like all other cars I've had. I've learned to live with this Brera idiosyncrasy, but I'm just wandering if it's just my car that's like that or all GM V6's that do it.
