Just for the record, mines on 95,000 miles and still sweet as a nut mechanically, then again it should be, that is baby mileage for a well looked after modern diesel engine, the Ford TD-Ci engine is regually seen with 170, 180 and well over 200,000 is not uncommon (just look at them on Ebay) and the Volvo D5 is legendary, we ran a 54 plate tow car estate with 245,000 miles on it that we took in part exchange, never spent a penny on it and it was still running smooth as silk when we sold it to a cumbrian hill farmer !!! mind you, it did have every stamp in the service book AND a replacement one with even more stamps, but that's all it's about really, very very good maintenance, spend what is needed when it's needed and a diesel engine should just go on and on.
We always laugh when a customer looks at a diesel fleet car on the forecourt with say 70,000 miles on it and says "ohh, that's high isn't it?" Next time you go in an old Euro taxi at the airport, have a look at the speedo mileage, says it all.................
