As ever proof is difficult. What I know is that it was making odd noises (is creaking on full lock a sign of a rack problem?) and they said there was nothing wrong. I also know it's got the red fluid, which if there is a service bulletin about they presumably should have checked and commented on. They didn't.
In isolation I would agree that it's not too expensive, but when coupled with engine requiring a replacement valve and tappets, broken pipes and motors in roof mechanism (twice), broken alarm and broken heated seat, all of which has happened in the 9 months since the warranty expired, I'm now looking at almost £2000. Really not very pleased.
