Regarding the "unwiped triangle" that affects the drivers vision (if your vertically challenged like me) by the drivers wiper missing a patch, I have had this happen on my 57 plate 2.4 TI that I have only owned for three weeks.
The previous owner pointed this fault out to me, and commented that the cold weather is making the rubber less compliant and implying that this is not normally an issue. Is this some spin from Alfa main dealers so that they don't have to replace the mechanism?
When a new blade did not fix this on mine, I investigated the wiper mechanism, and I found that there was a lot of forwards/ backwards play on the O/S wiper spindle. Definately more so than the n/s spindle.
What I found was that the plastic structure that houses the spindle on the o/s was able to rotate slightly in the aluminium arm that houses it (incidently made by bosch). When this occurs, it allows a drop off on the wiper arm to screen pressure as it allows the spindle to rotate slightly away from the windscreen. So I removed the mechanism re punched the holes of the aluminium that locate it to the plastic spindle carrier, which improved but did not eliminate all of the rotational movement. I also fitted a large stainless steel washer onto the upper outside right rubber bush fitting stud, which in effect will reduce/stop the plastic "spindle carrier" from being able to rotate as the washer is larger than the bush and pushes down on the plastic bush carrier.
Problem cured......at least for now.
In my opinion it is probably being caused by a fault in the machanism "wearing loose" and allowing the spindle carrier to rotate. If mine was under warranty, I would be asking for a new mechanism.
Just my findings and opinion..
