I've now spent a week in my new (to me) 2008 159 Ti.
If anything, I like it more than I did when I collected it. One thing, however, has come to my attention since driving the car over more serious distances.
There is a definite "clonk" / "clunk" noise from the car's transmission or drivechain, and it's happening in two situations:
a) When changing gear, as the clutch re-engages and drive is returned to the wheels
b) When in gear, but coming on or off the throttle (e.g. in fifth gear at 50mph on the motorway, coming on / off throttle to match traffic speed)
The sound is quite pronounced and it's also possible that I'm feeling it through the steering wheel, but this might be psychological. It sounds and feels like there's a momentary gap between the flywheel spinning up and some other component taking up the slack - it's very easy to replicate and very consistent. It's quite noticeable.
The car's in warranty, and is otherwise absolutely fine so I'm not very worried but it is annoying. By the way, do I have to take the car to an Alfa dealer to have warranty work done, or was that done away with?
I've done a search on the noise, but the closest I found was this thread:
Thanks in advance!
