Just got car back

Hiya everyone just an update got my 2.2 159 from garage today after they said fault had been cleared, balanced and tracked wheels, changed power steering fluid....

Soon as i drove off the check engine light come straite back on told them and they wiped it again and said the fault says something like (lean bank 1) but he said its the cam sensor doing it so he has ordered a new one for next week. Hope thats the problem

This is not from an alfa garage its a sports car specialist in northwich christopher neil they do tvrs, lotus, ect ect so i shauld emagine there mechanics are pretty clued up.

There is still a slight feel to the steering but i have crossspoke 18" wheels on and thats proberly why i can feel every murmer being such a big wheel...

Let me know your thoughts thanks

Hi mate

The check engine light sounds eerily familiar for a car with the 2.2 engine - just search 'P0016' or 'engine warning light' and see what you get! Long answer very short is that the timing chain stretches prematurely on these engines and activates that warning light.

It is an acknowledged problem with these GM-based engines and depending upon your country and dealer, it could be a warranty claim or if you're like me and in Australia, they couldn't give a monkeys about goodwill or the like and I ended up $2,200 out of pocket for a new sensor initially (that probably didn't need changing anyway!) and a new timing chain. I see you're in the UK - you might have more luck....

Cheers and good luck
