I'm afraid that the Italians have not a clue as to how to manage the electronics on their DPF systems (or electrics/electronics in general...
...Thankfully I changed to a BMW 123D (204bhp) which actually has space for rear seat passengers, is much faster, better built, 100% reliable (after 14 months ownership) & is half the road tax of the Brera & returning 48 mpg - however driven. What a fantastic car compared to the Brera!
I'll get my coat...
Pleased to hear you're over the moon with your BMW diesel and enjoying the benefits, amongst other things, of common rail technology which was invented by whom...?
So if they didn't get the DPF system quite right in your Brera, at least Alfa got it spot in the 1990s with that ground-breaking revolution in diesel technology that appears under the bonnet of your 123D (and every other diesel in the world these days).
BTW, no probs with the DPF in my 159 2.4TI (2.4 JTDM) - 3 years/60,000 miles/42 mpg on my daily 60 mile commute. Happy days on wheels.
Funny how deserting Alfa guys still haunt this forum (from behind the wheel of their BMWs typically). Haven't even so much a taken a peek at the BMW forum since migrating to Alfa some years ago now! Smug as it may sound, who, genuinely, are the most contented?
I'll take my coat too amigo!
