uncontrolled Revving

I jumped into my twin spark as usual, started her up and it revved constantly at 3.5 - 4K revs. It had been running fine and I am confused. I suspect an electronic failure on the fuel intake sysytem. It continues to rev even when the air inlet pipe is removed although if I dip the throttle gently it reduces revs and eventually stalls...as I would expect it to. Anyone else had this problem? No engine management light are on.

I replaced the MAF in the spring which sorted a previous stalling problem.

Throttle potentiometer on the throttle body. Had same thing on a punto but was a very expensive part. You get revs at idle but as no corresponding level of air no acceleration when under load with pedal up. Think you are in the wrong spider model forum though.
