Its a different car!!! - hats off to AHM
Just had my DPF removed and my EGR disabled and what a difference.
Had big DPF issues - constasntly blocking on each tank of diesel so using more fuel trying to unblock it - therefore not really benefitting from a Diesel. I also do lots of motorway miles which should have made this easier but it never did. Anyway, I also had lots of clunking sounds from the front end - sounded like I was towing a trailer so I thought I had suspension issues or a loose exhaust.
Anyway, AHM removed my DPF and disabled the EGR valve on Monday. Adie also advised that the drivers side track rod needs replacing and if he had one he would have done it (Alfa dealer wanted to sell me a new rack for this!!!!).
Got in car and drive off. First of all, it is far more responsive - pick up is so smooth too (between 2500 and 4000 revs it is unstoppable!!!) and when the car is idle, there is no shaking.
But most peculiar, the clonkling sounds have disappeared, so this must have been down to something with the exhaust and DPF. When the DPF was clogged, it sounded like the exhaust had come loose from the end of the downpipe onwards (well from inside the car this is what it sounded like) and when travelling I used to get knocking sounds but put this down to the exhaust hitting the towbar (this was what Alfa in Peterborough said when they tried to find the issue).
But nothing at all now -amazing.
Just completed 700 miles and have averaged 52mpg compared to 44mpg before and the last 30 miles was at a constant 90mph!!!
Get your cars to AHM or AlfaTune and remove those DPF's........
Big thanks to Adie and the crew at AHM
