First thoughts on 2.4 Brera
Just picked up my 08 2.4 Brera today having part ex my 06 3.2 brera.
It has the 250bhp mod 3 fitted and feels quicker than the 3.2. May be because its just fwd it feels much lighter with a rapid turn in and loads of feel. The 3.2 felt more surefooted though and sure it would handle better in wet conditions. Surprised how quick it fires off the line with very little wheel spin or tugging at the wheel as other fwd i've had. Does the 2.4 have LSD or Q2?
I miss the sound of the petrol but as far as diesels go its one of the best. At 70 the engine seemed just as quiet with less road noise even though it is fitted with 19" S alloys and 235/35 acceleras.
I like the new 08 interior, looks very smart with the darker roof linning (no SV). The seats hold you in tighter and seem to be in softer leather.
Surprised that the tail pipes were spotless yet the ones on the 3.2 were caked in soot and no amount of elbow grease could shift it all off. The car is in Carbonio black and look great with the dark S alloys (pics to follow).
Costs were the main reason for change and so far its looking good. Cheaper insurance (£90 less), road tax (£225 less) and just from the short run today av 36mpg (over 50% better). Dont know about service costs yet or if the DPF will cause problems.
Overall I was expecting a downgrade but pleasantly surprised and would recommend the same to anyone looking to save some money.
