Disagree - if you prefer not to waste your money on overpriced tyres go for the Acceleras
I kind of know what you mean. As far as value for money goes, these are fantastic! I certainly cant't see what the addition of a set of Pirellis/Contis etc would give me over these cheap tyres.
In the days when I had a bit of spare money I generally fitted known makes of tyre. Yet each of these had their compromises:
Dunlop SportMaxx (On a Saab 9-5 Aero) Brilliant in the dry, good in the wet, but truly awful in the damp conditions. Very twitchy indeed.
Good Year Eagle F1 GSD3 (On a Saab 9-5 Aero) Brilliant in the dry, great in the wet and damp, utterly useless in the snow or frost.
Continental Contact2 (On a Saab 9-3SS) Actually a very good all round tyre, but pretty expensive.
Toyo Proxes TR1 (On an Alfa 159) Brilliant in the dry, reasonable in the wet, reasonable in the snow/frost.
Accellera PHI (On an Alfa 159) Good all round! I've had a remap so the fronts have a lot to cope with in all conditions, and they only give way slightly if I drive like a moron coming out of corners/roundabouts accelerating hard. The wear is really good as well.
However, if I had the money to burn (literally..) then maybe I would choose a brand name, then again, maybe not.
Just my thoughts, being somebody that has experienced several makes/models of tyres over the years.
