Thank for the reply Vas but I think you miss read my post! Mito was the car offered to me by Bauer Milletts of Manchester as this was their courtesy car, unbelievably they wont put customers on their insurance meaning that me, as a customer, has to go to the expense of insuring their car on my policy!
As for BMWs and Peugeots, Peugeots - French, I rest my case! BMWs - according to RAC these are the worst offenders for breaking down and terrible winter performance but you remark that Alfas are rarely seen on the hard shoulder, I would argue that this is due to the fact there are 10 times the volume of similar classed cars such as 3 series and A4s on the road, statistically there are bound to be less breakdowns apparent in the public eye based on these stats. I however, has passed 2 broken down 159s on the road in the 8 months of owning mine.
Of course I am pleased for you that you have had success with yours, 11 months as a 159 owner is perhaps a case of speaking too soon in months to come for you my friend although of course I do hope not, I wouldn't wish my problems on any Alfa owner.
I agree with you on looks, nothing comes close which is why I bought an Alfa, I also own a Ducati 749 (motorbike), that's as unreliable as the Alfa so you see I have much to grumble about the Italians, there's nothing we can teach them when it comes to designing looks but you simply can't beat the Japs for electronic engineering!
Why on earth would you want to just simply put up with the car not opening using the fob, if it doesn't work, Alfa should put it right, it's as simple as that, you shouldn't put up with it, shrugging your shoulders and justifying it by saying "very very small price that I have to pay for having such an awsome car", really the 159 is nice at best but it certainly isn't awesome mate! But that's just my opinion of course sorry, just sounding off Vas.
Once the 159 has gone, will I go back to Alfa…unfortunately not on your nelly. Even if they became a more reliable product, Alfa still have a long way to go in getting the after sales support issues sorted. Try putting an Alfa garage in every town like Honda, Vauxhall or BMW!
