My Spider has finally gone back...
Just thought I'd share my thoughts on the hand back process for Ltd edition Spider
I had leased the car for 24 months but ended up extending it to nearly 30 months as my new car had an unexpectedly long lead time.
when the time came for the handover I'd put a few extra miles on it (1000ish over the contract amount) so I was expecting a bill for that. I've leased a fair few cars and was prepared for the hand-back process
I stopped the DD payment the after the final lease payment was taken (stops Fiat taking the money then arguing)
I had all 4 wheels refurbed and a small dink in the nearside door repaired (£460) then had the car valeted (20 quid at my local Romanian car wash)
I was happy that the car met the BVRLA stds
The chap who came to inspect the car was reasonable enough, though he felt the car had more stone chips on the nose cone than was reasonable for its age, I disagreed and stated that in the report
A week later Fiat invoiced me for the final month and the Mileage only so all in all a good handover with no surprises ( I know some chaps here had a bit of a nightmare re 'extra' charges)
I've had a brilliant time with the Spider and defo consider it a great car for the money (the deal I and a few hundred others got on the ltd Spider was truly great)
Other than an issue with the hood after the first week, the car never put a foot wrong over its 30K miles.
I will miss its great looks, quirky feel and staggeringly pretty interior.
This forum has also been a great place to hang out, the wealth of knowledge here has been really helpful and very assuring, thank you all for your help and input
Its sad that the car is no longer in production but hey life moves on.
trying to find a worthy replacement has been really tough and in many senses every car I looked at was a compromise (especially if I tried to go for a similarly priced car)
I gave up trying to cost compete, bit the bullet and went for Porsche Cayman which I've now had for 3 weeks, its very different proposition; no Italian flair or quirks, just devastating pace and uber precise handling. not a car where you can cruise along posing, chatting to your GF and looking at the sites (unless you want to bury yourself in a hedge...)
I'll pop in from time to time, I'm also on the planet9 forum now which is a Porsche Cayman, Boxster and 911 site, the chaps are really cool, so please feel free to pop by.
thanks again for all of your awesome help over these last 2 odd years
