Another rattle thread...
Like a lot of other owners at the moment it seems, I'm trying to track down an irritating rattle! Wondered if this sounds familiar to anyone else? I've read a load of threads about rear knocking/suspension issues, but this sounds different from those described.
The best I can describe it is a hollow rattle/knock, as if knocking on a small hollow wooden box. I'm fairly certain it's coming from the nearside, and sounds as if it's in the wheel arch. It's louder with the ski hatch open. It only happens at low speed, over coarse ground. In other words it's silent over a speed bump, but noisy over cobbles.
So far, I've:
-Taken everything out of the boot, including spare wheel, tools etc.
-Removed all boot carpet - nothing rattling behind.
-Removed wheel arch liner (cabled tied up a dangling redundant connector behind there)
-Nearside ARB drop-link replaced
-Removed close buffers on boot lid
-Inspected/wobbled exhaust mountings - no noise.
..and the noise remains.
Almost sounds like it might be inside the rear bumper -trying to avoid taking that off but might have to!
