Question about Blue and Me

I have a question about Blue and Me. I've recently bought a 57 plate Brera and, whilst it has the 10 CD changer and MP3/Sat Nav head unit, it doesn't have any USB connection.

When I was considering new, my plan was to buy a hard drive, mount it in the glove box, connect via USB and job done. I'd still like to do this if possible.

So, how easy/costly is the Blue and Me system to retrofit? Will it involve pulling half the dashboard out, leading to unwanted rattles etc? Can I get an Ipod connection instead that goes through to the glovebox, and if so, will I lose the 10 CD changer (not a massive problem)?

Also, will the headunit I've got interact with the USB/Ipod okay, as it does look a bit 2002?

Like the idea of driving around with 320Gb of music at my fingertips

Have a check through the ICE B&M threads but from memory I think this is an almost impossible after-market fit, to the extent that the dealers won't even attempt it.

Retro fitting B&M has been mooted before but in terms of time, effort and money
it'd probably be cheaper and easier to yank the HU and fit something like the
Pioneer equivalent with all the BT/MP3 stuff integrated.

The main issue is the way that B&M hooks up to the CANBus and main body computer.

As f-n says there are a few previous threads that come to this conclusion.
Check out the ICE/B&M lounge for details.

Okay, thanks. The dealer did seem reluctant.

Sorry, forgot there was a seperate ICE forum, will have a look.
