It's at Allams in Surrey if it is the same one you are thinking of?
Took delivery of this very 159 2.4 TI last week!! Yep, defo nice car and well priced. Got them to fit two new front "boots", new front discs and pads, supplying the missing spare key (ouch) plus tidying up a couple of small scuffs to the front and rear bumpers. All four alloys have some minor scrapes but couldn't get them to stretch to sorting them. Hadn't done bad I figured! So, deal done and it's off to Lepsoms in Gillingham next week for 2 days to have those gorgeous alloys refurbed (+/- £360). Having spent two days solid cleaning the leather, dash and carpets, it's now really beginning to look A1+. I am a real tart admitedly!!
Can't believe the difference between this 210 BHP TI and my MY 2006 159 2.4 JTDM Lusso sold 2 years ago...so much more tractable around town and, incredibly, more economical! Couldn't better 35mpg in the old one. The TI has returned a regular 42mpg on my 60mile round trip commute involving a mix of decent A roads and 16 miles on the M20. I'm impressed. As for the handling etc in TI spec - smiles all round
Had it into Northgate, Canterbury today
for a general health check and to reset the tracking to safeguard those precious new 19" front boots. Took their advice and had them tracked "parallel" contrary to std spec. This adds min 4000 miles to inside tread front tyre life apparently (unless you drive everywhere at 9/10ths). Also worth checking that the soft/firmware versions are up to date, so they did that too. Has killed a slight and occasional hiccup when turning on the taps from a trailing throttle at around 20-30 MPH (i.e. exiting a fast roundabout).
Talking of tyres, Allams fitted a pair of those Acceleras
. Lots of chat about them on this forum (good and bad). They're budget tyres from Indonesia BTW. I know it's early days yet, but have to say I am impressed. Great dry grip (not a lot of experience to date!) and great grip too in the wet (fully evaluated recently...!). They are very quiet and appear to have a decent tread pattern not dissimilar to Contis. Just hope they dont shed their tread to the road too fast...
So, I'm smitten. Having written plenty of negatives in here about my first "Sherman tank" of a 159, I can't believe what a difference this lightened, 210 BHP TI has made. Dial in the looks, the colour and the darkened interior and it's the dogs boll*cks!
