That looks terrible! I would be booking it in at the garage that did the work and asking them to sort it asap FOC!
I am certainly no techie when it comes to engines, but to me it looks like the turbo inlet or outlet pipe. These are generally solid metal, as is this one.
If you follow the pipe down to the front of the engine, it will probably lead to the turbo itself.
Did the car lose power over a period of time, or just let go in one?

Fingers crossed that this is the only problem. If it is a turbo pipe, which I think it is, pray that nothing was sucked/blown down the pipe when it became attached. Foreign bodies in a turbo charger are rarely a good thing!
