Be very, very wary of Kwik Fit
This is going to be a long post, so sorry in advance!
I asked KF to do a free brake check and a week later took it to my local to have the pads replaced. They couldn’t find the lock nut and when I phoned KF they claimed not to have it. I said they must have…blah, blah. It ended up that I had to drive an hour and a half round trip so KF could do the pad replacement. When I arrived they brought out a lock nut, tried it on the wheel and said “Sorry mate doesn’t fit, but I’ve got a couple of spares in the office, I’ll try one of those”. Surprise, surprise, one fitted!
I said “Isn’t that like me going up to a random door and opening it with my front door key?” They said it was, but I was lucky and I could have the lock nut when the job was done. Basically, it was my lock nut.
I said I wanted the job done, but wasn’t willing to pay as they had held me to ransom by making come to them they had my lock nut. They did the job and when I left they said “Your lock nut is in the car”. When I looked, it was evident someone had deliberately damaged the lock nut making it unusable. I challenged them and they offered to replace all the locking nuts on the car.
They had deliberately damaged my property, they had put me at risk by making it impossible to change any wheel on the car and their response was to only replace those things they had damaged in the first place. I have photos as evidence.
KF are on Watchdog this week and I’m not bl00dy surprised!
