I am picking up a 08 2.2 Spider LE this week and i want to get my head around some costs and convince myself I am doing the right thing.
Servicing - should not need this for two years as just had one done and i only do about 6000 per year, but what am i expecting to pay either from a main dealer or a indy?
Does having main dealer history make a high difference to the resell on this car?
Warranty, I know this is a year away, but anyone actually know what alfas extended warranty costs, there must be some of you 07 owners that have just had to do it or are looking at it? The dealer says it is around £400ish but is somewhat vague and are they any good?
Petrol, I was hoping to use standard unleaded on this to keep the costs down a little, does this make any difference to the performance or running?
I am swapping to this car to cut my costs a little, so whilst all of the above are some distance off, I am just trying to sort things in my head.
Right now to my real worries (to the point I am thinking of pulling out of the deal) are the hesitation issues, I do not want to be putting my foot down as I need to get more mpg than my current car, to make it really worth changing. When I test drove the car, I did get a bit of it, but like most I put it down to my driving and the clutch being different to my current car.
I have two options, buy it and live with and put a remap on, which I presume is going to cost in the region of £300 - £400, (which I do not mind doing, but it is another cost) but does this improve mpg or just improve the power delivery, really not bothered about any performance gain (bought this car also to slow down a little). Also when it goes in for repairs/service etc is it going to get wiped (presume you have to pay again for reinstalling) and how does it affect the warranty. I have one on my disco and that is removable, you just whip it off, take it in and pop it back on when you get your car back.
The other problem is the stupid blue & me, all three phones and my partners phone are not compatible, this is a real concern, I need Bluetooth. My main is a nokia E63 and the work one is a nokia N95, the N95 is a pain anyway, but could swap that to my LG, which also does not appear on the list, all these work in my BMW and Disco, this damn system, could cost me at least two new phones and of course the ones I want that seem to work are around £150 plus each. Spent ages reading this and the fiat forum to see if there is any work around, but I think I may be stuffed, unless anyone has any great ideas.
Before I part with my current car, which they are taking in pex, I would like to take the alfa out and give it another test drive to check out how bad the hesitation is, mainly to see if I am being paranoid, if it is bad, does it give me the right to insist they sort it before I complete the deal (sure I will get the quirk of the car lecture) or walk away and ask for my deposit back?
I am sorry this is so long winded, I so want this car, as I love the looks. In theory it will save me about a £100 per month in running costs and on paper is the perfect car for me, but that will be wiped out in remap and new phones, should ahve done my homework before i put the depoist down, but really liked the look of it. I know I should just go for it, but I am giving up a great car I can afford to run, but would like the money for other uses, which is why I am in a dilemma.
