This time last year I was really fed up with the fuel consumption of my 159. Not only was I suffering with a fuel consumption of around 36 to 38 mpg (brim to brim) the engine was running like an old Ford Pinto with a knackered cam! This condition came and went, but the fuel never got better than 38mpg.
Nothing was showing up in the way a fault codes, but my dealer, Monza Sport, were doing their best trying different things. When the car was in for service a couple of months ago, they used a fuel system flush and if I have a grip with Keith it is, why didnt you try that before!!! Since the fuel system flush the consumption has got better and better, so too has the running of the engine, it is now smooth and the rattly injectors are silent.
Right, fuel consumption, this is not from the computer, it is from a zeroed mileometer at fill up time to fill up, brim to brim. I just filled up and did the calculation, 63.72 liters and 594 miles covered, that is 42.4 MPG!!!
Needless to say I am delighted and would suggest anyone with a rough running 1.9 Jtdm too get some fuel flush through the system it does the world of good.
Oooooooooooooh! I'm soooooo happy, arnt these Alfa Romes wonderfull!!
PS The current tank was a mix of about 130 motorway miles the rest was a mix of A, B and dual carriageway, normal driving with some 'enthusiastic' sprints (for a few miles
) I also use Millers additive.
