The 'facelift' was in 2008 but had nothing to do with the face! Lots of 08 cars still have the old seats, which is the easiest way to tell.
Different seats, some trim difference and 10bhp was about it.
The seats look sportier in the new one, but a lot of people prefer the comfort and logo on the old ones.
The trim has more plastic and less aluminium in the facelift, not as nice, but probably less easier to damage on the door trims for example.
The 10bhp thing is easily sorted with a remap from Mangos/Angel etc.
Personally wouldn't worry if it was facelift or not based on these things, I would consider getting a car that comes with a dealer warranty though, which all should have if you buy from a dealer.
If I were buying again I'd go newer with warranty remaining if a private sale, but would feel fine with any from a decent Alfa dealer.
