Some of you may have read my previous post about having my much loved, immaculate red Brera written off exactly a month ago today.
Well im pleased to say I've now collected its replacement and its a beauty!
Feb 2010 registered, 1400 miles, 2.2 Misano Blue with B&M, leather, 18" 5 hole graphite alloys and panoramic roof for 21k
Initial impressions of the '08 model improvements are very good.
Biggest positive is that there is no hesitation issue to speak of, which does seem odd if Alfa have never acknowledged the problem!
Ive still dropped in my Autolusso airfilter just to smooth things further and add a little more rasp to the soundtrack
It definitely seems a bit more nimble and surefooted than my old '06 model, and has a far
less noisy front suspension (no more creaking when turning on to my driveway!)
New style seats offer much improved lateral support, but dont seem quite as comfy on longer journeys - think I'll need to keep tweaking the setup till they 'fit' properly.
Have already noticed slightly better fuel economy (averaging around 30mpg) even with the low miles on the clock.
Impressed with the stereo considering it lacks the Bose option of my old car. I was expecting it to sound far more tinny without the sub in the boot, and having the benefit of speed sensitive volume is a bonus (this is strangely missing with Bose).
Appear to have a problem with AM reception though, can't pick up anything at all, which isnt ideal during the world cup!
Love the darker interior, hate the fact that the brushed aluminium inserts have been replaced by naff plastic. Not sure the dials look as classy as the older style either.
Also noticed that the front wiper arms have been modified and raised slightly, which has stopped the problem of the wiper arm rubbing paint off the underside of the bonnet!
All in all it seems Alfa have done a pretty good job of ironing out all of the things that used to irritate me with the older model.
Guess that means I've now got my perfect car then!
Time will tell...........
