A test drive is next on the agenda!
Been looking around a bit and seen a few... pretty sure I'm going to stay in the dealer network for piece of mind over an additional years' warranty, plus that bit more comeback if anything they say has been done, actually has (in theory!).
Price/age of your car is about where I'm aiming... do you mind me asking how many miles were on the clock?? (Probably several hundred less than there are now, thanks to those Devonshire B-Roads
She had 48,000 miles on the clock - a bit more than I was hoping for, but the car was in very good order, and from a dealer that has a very good local reputation. They also gave me a very good part exchange deal on my previous car, and when the MOT indicated the brakes might need replacing in the next year, they put a new set on straightaway before collection. Being nearby, they allowed me a couple of test drives and an independent inspection check.
There was a blue Brera listed in Cardiff at 28,000 miles (which seemed very good for a 56 plate) but in comparison, I didn't really fancy the trip up two or three times. And I didn't know the dealer from Adam.
The local authorised dealer (Vospers) had a red 56 Brera 2.2 for sale when I started getting the Alfa bug six months ago with (IIRC) 30,000 on the clock and that was selling for £14,500.
I hope that bit of my experience helps! I'm sure somebody else could do better.
I'm in the same situation but looking for a 3.2 and qtronic. I take it not many were sold cant find one for under 19k
There's a nice looking one for sale at St Georges Alfa in Yate, near Bristol for £11,995 (38,000 miles). John is an old acquaintance of mine from when he was selling Saabs, and he is a very trustworthy fellow - I never had a problem with a car from him. I nearly bought it myself but simply couldn't justify the £405 road tax and 20 mpg. Had I travelled up there and driven it, however, I suspect I would have bought it.
He's a good chap if Yate isn't too far for you. It's listed on his site (google St George Alfa - I hope it's OK to make recommendations).
