Sad to say I've (temporarily at least) left the Alfa marque and gone for a one year old A4 2.0T SE (boo hiss), for which I got quite a nice deal. The Alfa was nearing the end of its fourth year warranty (which cost £400) - faced with a £430 road tax bill and average economy of around 19mpg, together with questionable future reliability I thought it was time to change.
These are the list of faults I've had in 15k miles, since I purchased in January 2008 (for, interestingly, £12,995 which is exactly the price it's advertised for now!). They were all fixed under warranty:-
Failed to start (once) - dirty earth connection.
Failed oil temperature sender - replaced twice (!)
Noisy water pump replaced - (I didn't even realise there was a problem - this was discovered whilst replacing the oil sender)
Failed near side wing mirror heating element.
Power steering noise - standard known issue involving replacing the hydraulic fluid and resevoir.
That said, the car was gorgeous and I miss her - the engine growl alone was enough to bring a broad smile to my face. This particular car is kitted out to the max too - bi-xenons, BOSE, factory electric sunroof etc. etc. I hope she goes to a good home - there's not many 159 Q4's about..
