........But the really odd thing is the readings they got from the rolling road. It's supposed to have 197bhp @ 5,000rpm and 320Nm of torque but it's putting out 229bhp @ 5,800 and 358Nm! They seemed pretty confident in their calibration, but anyway it was definitely quicker on the drive home than it had been in the morning with more at the top end (and a slightly higher rev limit). I can only assume it was still stuck in running-in mode and they inadvertently switched that off.
Those are impressive figures. I've been starting to think that the 'official' ones were a bit on the conservative side too as mine is now feeling significantly quicker than either my previous 2.4 or the V6 before that. Had guiliasuper out in it last night and for a V6 GTV driver to comment on how bl**dy quick it is must say something,
My only answer for the improved power and torque is my running in regime as suggested by a friend's race engine builder. Basically, after the first 1,000 miles, red-line it and use full throttle as often as humanly possible!
My dealer suggested exactly the same, but not to wait even for 1000 miles - just go for it from day 1 as the electronic 'running-in' programme wouldn't allow you to do anything to the engine that it couldn't handle, . It's now at 7500 miles and hasn't blown-up yet, , even after a hard work-out down through France into Italy.
