1.9JTD turbo 'chirping' (or sush sush)
Around 1500 - 1800 RPM I get a sush sush sound, it is most pronounced when changing up through the gears, it is accompanied by a momentary dip in power. It can be reproduced, holding 1700 rpm, then just lifting off the throttle slightly, and then down again. Get this, it is only there most of the time but not all the time.
The dealer describes it as being the turbo 'chirping', apparently, they say, the turbo has variable pitch vanes and it is this and it is a feature of the engine, sorry nothing we can do.
Anyone else familiar with this on their 1.9 JTD? Please also see my other post re: injector noise.
Someone said to me, "so whats so special about an Alfa Romeo then?" I told him, "If you have to ask, you wont understand".
Driving Brera S 2.2, wife drives 939 Spider 2.2 and there is a 1972 Spider 2000 S2 in the garage for fun days.
