greets from Latvia!
My long lasting itching for a 159 3.2 might have ended buying a
1) new/1-year-old 159 in tip-top condition as an expensive option or
2) a used one before-MY2008 as a "lowest price" option.
Keeping in mind that the first option is nearly non-existant in our region, where, unlike UK
, motoring traditions tend best towards diesel germans and where most Alfa dealers are nearly dead after a recent recession (means no 159 3.2 sales during the last 2 years), I started to look for option number 2.
So, today I tried a used mid 2007 3.2 Q4 automatic with about 60K miles. Familiar satisfactory green was on my face during accelerations and bends of course
But the owner mentioned he almost didn't replace anything in suspension/steering/electric, only brake discs/pads and some bearings. And currently the car seems to be in good condition. But I wonder how much time will pass until I will have to replace everything one-by-one. The body/paint also feature noticeable dents - like "now I don't care to leave this car on any supermarket parking, as another scratch or dent won't do much difference".
I would appreciate the feedback from 159 connoisseurs about what extra expenses/problems such an "aged" car may bring during the next 2-3 years and is it, in general, a good "mule" for a possible project car (induction/exhaust, mapping, luxury leather interior upgrade for seats and torpedo, body repainting, etc. - rather towards comfort/styling direction, not track racing). I do about 10K miles per year and never scared to visit the tanks more often, especially if the car gives so much thrill
Any feedback would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
