Hello Hugo here. This is my first post - I have been a lurker for some time whilst doing research on the 159 to find and read most of the interesting posts.
I live in Jersey and have been to see my local Alfa dealer (who sadly does not have any 159's in stock as the island is small) and I've just been told that the existing 159 TBi TI SW in Alfa Red that I was about to order is no longer available to order new (as of today). Is this right or am I being told rubbish?
I have been told that I they would have to find me one from stock elsewhere in the UK or I can wait until July when a new set of prices / facelift is available. This sounds fishy to me as I've not read anything about this on the forums.
As I live in Jersey, I should be able to get the 159 VAT free which would help. Does anyone have experience of exporting from the UK to a non-EU country. I'm trying to find out my options if what I have been told is true.
Finally..... I understand that there are issues with red paint and tyre wear, but Jersey has a 40mph speed limit so I'm hoping that these should not affect me too much.
Any heads up on whether I am being told the truth would be appreciated as I have just spent the last 2 months doing research and I need to decide if I wait until July for the 'facelifted' model or if I buy from the UK and ship to Jersey VAT free.
Thanks for any help, Hugo
