Think you are on the mark there andypj, it seems to be the seal around the top/lower edge that has gone. The inner plastic shell meets the outer shell and the moulded plastic seems to have warped a little. The resulting gap lets a tiny amount of water in when washing or in the rain.
It just sits there taking an age to dry the condensation then! The only option I found was to drill a 5mm hole under the tiny Alfa badge on the bottom left corner, this gave it somewhere to breath and the condensation cleared quicker.
New one looks great, just waiting for the rain to see if it works a treat now.
At least one part of this car is cheap to fix!
