Suspension woes. 159 clatter/rattle.
I posted a while back about the 3 recents faults on my 159.
The air con is in the process of being sorted. The aircon man I use filled the empty system and loaded it with uv dye. It is pouring out of a joint, a rubber pipe meets and metal one and it seems to be dripping madly out of there. So hopefully a simple fix and a refill.
The "stutter" from the engine seems to have ironed itself out a little. The hesitation has gone, but the turbo seems ever so slightly less willing to release its load, as it were. Power is there for sure, just a little later on in the pedal travel. Have had no warning lights or limp modes, so fingers crossed.....am thrashing it to be sure....
The suspension is a pain though. Had the wheel on the OS front off, checked all the bushes and all seems well. There is a slight bit of play, as in 1-2mm, in the vertical link between the upper wishbone and the hub, slight rattle as I grabbed it and shook. Maybe a worn bush? Mounting?
I even lubed up all the rubber areas to try and ease off any worn areas. Took it for a test drive over some of our worst roads, just as bad, if not a little worse. The noise is a rattle/clunk as the OS front goes over bumps/cracks. As though a metal part is hitting another.
I have checked all the body trim and panels in the area, all are solid. Have even wedged and glued the inner arch as it meets the mud flap. No joy.
Anyone with any idea please give me a hint, I have just been on the tinterweb looking at Saabs again.....stop me......
The spring is as new, as is the shock, no leaks or cracks.
Must be a component in the suspension set up? Any thoughts?
Moved over to the dark side
And loving it
