After many posts stating how happy I was with my lovely 159, how it had flown through the MOT last week, suddenly it is starting to gang up on me!
During the past week the following have cropped up:
1. Air Con Gone: I had a re-gas last summer as it was making dry noises. As the warmer weather has begun I noticed that the air was not as cold as it should be. After testing it seems to be dead. Spoke to John at SA and he noted that there was ultra violet dye around the compressor during a recent service, but the air con was working then. I have my air con specialist coming out tomorrow after work. Fingers crossed it is only a seal that has gone and not the compressor itself!
2. Rattles and Bumps: My front drivers side suspension is doing a good impression of the Birmingham Symphony Timpany section. I spent an hour on saturday liberally spraying silicone on the bushes and other moving parts, this quitened the whole thing down a touch. I even removed the plastic engine cover as this was vibrating a bit too much for my liking, it is in my boot now! I have wedged and glued the lower inner wheel arches to stop the mud flap rattle. But it still crashes and bashes around over the rubbish roads around here. It can't be a bush issue as it passed the MOT last week. So getting a bit frustrated by this now. Maybe moving to the 18 inch wheels could have set this off? Open to suggestions!
3. Hesitation: I thought I had a 2.2 in it this weekend. It is ever so slight and almost unnoticable, but on the over run and at the beginning of acceleration there is a slight hesitation. Almost like a cough in the engine before the power comes in. Nothing major at all, just noticed it this weekend. And again this morning. Started perfectly as always, eased off the drive, into first, pulled away fine, then as I went into second, cough, then all fine. If I wasn't such a picky perfectionist I probably wouldn't even notice it!
I'm hoping the aircon won't cost me an arm and a leg, but who knows. The warranty runs out on the 6th June this year, so any faults will hopefully be sorted by then. Apart from the aircon, I am covered for everything, turbo included, apart from the air con system. Doh.
I don't want to fall out with the car, its been a cracker so far. Got back from Bristol, to Sutton in north Brum in 1 hour 10 mins yesterday evening, 33mpg at 100mph (on a private stretch of road) and holds the road brilliantly.
Any ideas on the suspension or "cough"?
