At one of our recent AROC monthly meets Peter Cambridge did a presentation on the Brera S suspension development having been the leader of the project for Prodrive, Peter's knowledge of suspension & driving characteristics is unrivalled, dealing directly with Nicholas Barnard ( Alfa Romeo Brera S Revealed (UK)
) to get the best possible handling from the Brera S.
The evening was very interesting and entertaining, Peter having moved to his own consultancy company currently working on contract at Jaguar offered a deal for AROC and for that matter any other Alfa owners to have their cars setup properly in a group session, for one reason or another the group didn't work so individual sessions are available.
So having driven SR's 3.2 V6 and with Simon driving mine the difference in handling was massive (even though SR's is not an "S" its newer) my steering was heavy, dull with little feedback probably due to the last request by me to set the toe to parallel to ease tyre wear - this has worked the last set have lasted 18k miles with some to spare.
I took the Brera to Protyre in Warwick where I met Peter who discussed what we were trying to do essentially liven up the steering feel but still provide decent even tyre wear something the Brera is unused to - you normally get one without the other in my experience.
Peter & Harry the technician started at the rear which wasn't too bad adjusting the toe & camber to get the rears square which does have a big impact on the fronts, then on to the fronts again with the toe adjusted slightly its now set up as it should be.
First impressions the steering has a much much lighter feel, the turn in is sharp and the grip is instant the confidence in the turn is greater you can feel what the car is doing, so much so flicking through right & left handers near home was an absolute delight and an experience i'm not used to in the Brera.
So in short car setup by the guy who engineered the Brera S suspension & geometry for £100 + vat i think its an absolute bargain !!
If you want to contact Peter please pm me & i'll pass on his details
