I'm sure this is posted somewhere yet I have tried searching 'titles only' but cannot find it in 159 thread or ICE thread. Posted this in the 159 thread but won't be surprised if it gets moved to ICE
I have a standard HU with an added iPod adaptor in the glovebox. I am not an Apple fan, so do not have an iPod.
I am just awaiting parts to try using the blue ISO and adding an 3.5mm adaptor to the AUX input instead. I am concerned about the lower quality since it is not LINE input, so I might consider replacing the HU with one that at least takes USB or SD inputs.
I see the 159 HU is double-din front-end but really only a single-din back-end unit due to allowing space for Blue&Me (which I do not have
). Can it therefore take a single-din (& tray?) or actually have room for a full size double-din ?
Are any aftermarket HUs directly compatiable with the 159 wiring harness adaptor ? What about another Blaupunkt HU (which I easily did with my 156
) at the very least ? The same for the steering wheel functions ?
Is it all complicated by the CANBUS system ?
Otherwise do I always need to buy a HU manufacturer wiring harness adaptor + a matching steering wheel adaptor ? These two items can cost as much as a HU so that is really putting me off. If I do need them are some brand HUs adaptors cheaper than others? I don't want some rubbish like Ripspeed, prefer something like Clarion, Pioneer, Kenwood, JVC etc.
