Economical travel - 1.9 JTDm
Today the sun is shining and as I was in no hurry on my way from Leeds to York I set the speed at 55mph on the cruise control and wafted along the A64, driver and passenger, air con on. Not many people were managing to go faster than that thanks to the trucks.
Over a distance of 21.6 miles I averaged 45 mph (with traffic) and 59.7 mpg.
This was only off the onboard computer and I make no claims for pinpoint accuracy, although previous tank to tank calculations have shown its not far out at all.
I would have been very happy with those figures in a family hatchback, never mind a 159.
I then drove south down the A1, for 55 miles, the last 10 of which were cross-country. 55-60 mph depending on commercial traffic, and got 57.6 mpg on the computer.
Just shows what can be achieved when we aren't all rushing to our destinations. Probably cost me about 10-15 minutes in 90 minutes of driving - and just my luck, there was nobody out with a speed camera for me to ignore.
