Both Budgen (Shrewsbury) and Guest (Willenhall) and also ARUK Customer Services for that matter told me it had to be done within the dealer network, this was last week, they also told me AA cover/courtesy car is not included also, so add £130 plus to get the equivalent of what we are used to on the 3yr warranty......
You shouldn't necessarily believe everything you're told
I've just spoken to AlfaCare in Thornbury, and they have confirmed to me that, for the fourth and fifth year extended AlfaCare warranties, your Alfa Romeo may be repaired at any Alfa Romeo dealership OR
at any VAT registered garage using Alfa Romeo parts or parts of a similar quality. So long as authorisation is sort and approved (with an accompanying Authorisation Number) there is no reason why you cannot have repairs conducted at your Alfa specialist.
It is true though that, for the Third Year AlfaCare warranty, repairs must be conducted at an Alfa approved dealership. This is because the Third Year warranty is specifically a Dealership warranty. This may be the reason for any confusion at ARUK??
If you wish to speak to AlfaCare themselves their number is: 0844 573 8030, option 2 Customer Services.
At the end of the day it's not up to ARUK or the dealers to determine where your Alfa Romeo is repaired anyway from the fourth year on. The policy is run by Car Care Plan, and when you pay your premium at the dealer they're only collecting the money on behalf of CCP (and charging a loading on the premium for the privilege).
Hope that helps.
