on the lookout for a sportswagon
it turns out that they do fit in the garage, thanks to the nice chap from the nearby garage.
this means that we're getting us a nice shiny 159 sportswagon.
the test drive just reinforced my wife's prejudices against diesel, specifically the sound of it. ( "my heart sinks when i hear it" )
nothing particularly logical, it just doesn't sound very nice. but then its not that logical to want the 19" wheels and black leather on a family wagon!
So the spec has to be TI, and petrol, which does rather narrow down the field somewhat.
There seems to be about 5 demonstrators with the new 1750 engine in it on autotrader and that's about the lot. don't fancy a 2.2, would like a 3.2, but they don't seem to exist.
btw. this is a private car for ferrying around taylora junior and his ever growing menagerie of dinosaur toys probably won't do more than 5-6k per year. so fuel costs are almost irrelevant compared to depreciation. at a guess i'd say £900 vs £5000.
So I'm resigned to losing a considerable chunk on the new car depreciation over he next 3-4 years unless anyone has any better suggestions?
