My hunt for a 3.2 TI is over.....
....because I've just spent a day driving the 1750.
What a revelation. After years of bemoaning the fact that all of my Alfas have been so close to perfection yet irritatingly flawed in many respects this car is a breath of fresh air.
Almost as much pull as my old 2.4 without that heavy lump up the front end (I mean the engine not me personally). The car feels light, agile and an absolute pleasure to drive.
So next time around, and that will be sooner than planned, it'll be this engine in a TI (or maybe a 149 or maybe a Brera again) It makes the 3.2s that I've driven feel middle aged and sluggish, not to deride an engine that in its own way is also excellent.
What a belter to refresh a middle aged fleet. Bravo Alfa, very impressed.
p.s. having said all of that when Mangos find a way of turning up the volume I'll be in the queue for that too.
