Newbie here to the club, but a genuine addict to the brand for the past 7 years or so!
I recently upgraded from a very slicked out little 147ti to the more fashionable Brera, and i have to say that i have felt the need for a little more "oomph". I don't like to talk bad about my Alfa but she definitely lacks a little in the power department (which i was hoping to remedy with a few upgrades).
I have read a lot about the options for weight loss, power-ups etc, and was quite ready to slap my cash down for a re-map, exhaust system & air filter etc.....that was until i called up AR and asked them what the warranty coverage would be after these upgrades (although i did fail to mention the chip
Now in short, Sydney City Alfa basically told me that an air filter and exhaust system could potentially effect the entire engine, and therefor render my warranty void. I was MORE than disappointed.
My question......is it really worth the risk? I'm interested in your thoughts. What could the worst case scenario be if i was to go ahead with the upgrades and my engine decides to explode/ fall apart/ stop!?
One annoyed but loyal customer! (They should be so lucky!!!)
P.s. Slightly off topic, it annoys me that the re-mapping will potentially fix a fault which seems to effect most new model AR's (stutter), but will then in turn void my warranty. What do they want us to do??
