hi folks. I'm really just posting to 'let it all out' in the company of some sympathetic AR owners
about a month ago I had a small shunt with (of all things) a 3 series. I slid into the back of him and crumpled the nose of my beloved 159. The bumper was badly cracked around the grille and the bonnet pushed up. Needless to say, I was gutted.
DirectLine had it picked up and hauled off to a repair shop to be sorted out. I finally got it back last night. As the delivery driver pulled away I thought "what is that hissing noise". A quick inspection revealed a self tapping spire bolt firmly embedded in the front left tyre
As the car had moved all of about 20m from the back of the truck its likely it was picked up in the yard. Not a good start.
In the fading light I started to have a closer look around the car. So far I've spotted that the right front wing does not align with the bumper at the front tip. There is a nice collection of new scratches around the right side indicator lamp. The bonnet appears to be 'wonky', and the gap is bigger on one side than the other. The final insult, the badge has not been replaced. The protective lacquer was damaged in the shunt and was flaking off. Now it has mostly flaked off
DL have been excellent. I phoned them straightaway to say I was not happy. They are going to get the repairer to call today when they open, at which point they will rue the day they thought they could palm off such shoddy work on a stubborn short tempered ginger chap
I will be taking photos as soon as the sun is up properly for DL, but I'll post them here as well - I'd be interested to see what you think, esp about the bonnet.
I'll keep you posted on progress ...
(and I feel better for letting it out now ...)
