Brera 'clunky' gearchange

Hi...Have a 3yr old Brera with 24K on the clock. Over the past few months I have noticed the gearchange is a little clonky. The gearchange isnt a problem...gearbox and clutch seem normal. Just an audible sound. Anyone else suffer this? (The nearest dealer is a couple of hours away and Im keen to avoid a trip over unless I have to)....Cheers!

Hi. Welcome to AO and congratulations on the Brera

There have been a few threads regarding the notchy gear change, in particular this one springs to mind.

Essentially: It's not harmful, which is just as well because there's no (known) cure.

My gear change was quite notchy, including quite an audible clicky/clonky sort of sound from 2nd-3rd; and made no difference whether it was cold or warm.

It has been improved drastically by:

a) Having the linkage adjusted slightly (by John at Mangoletsi);
b) Changing the gearbox oil.

It's still not perfect, but substantially better.

over time the gear change does get more notchy.

As cas said it "normal" although if you have any kind of guarantee left
you could ask for work such as oil change to mitigate it.

I think Squadrone Rosso chased this a bit for his 159, not
sure how much of a "fix" was carried out.....
