Just to clarify why I originally commented on this thread....
I hadn't heard of Accelera tyres and was interested to find some information on them. When I searched on the internet and found the price etc, I was suprised to find the cost was under the £100 mark.
It also made me think..... and this is only my personal view ... would I buy a car in the price catergory of a Brera 2.4jtdm with 200bhp and then put budget tyres on it??
No I wouldn't.
However, as my comments have ruffled a few feathers I thought it best to comment further. So here goes
Have I driven a car with Accelera tyres fitted.... No
Have I stated Accelera tyres are rubbish .... No
Have I stated people who fit Accelera tyres to their cars are idoits .... No
I did some years ago purchase a rwd car and the dealer fitted Marshall tyres to the rear. The original fronts were Bridgestone.
The slightest blip of the throttle in the wet and the rear end would start to step out. It wasn't long before I replaced all tyres with Michelin Pilot sport. This transformed the handling of the car immensely.
That is my own personal experiance of the difference between budget and a more expensive brand of tyre.
It is my own view that the fiour patches of rubber that keep you on the tarmac should be the most appropriate for the vehicle you drive.
If you own a car with 18 or 19 inch tyres it is reasonable to also assume that the vehicle is of a certain performance and weight that would justify paying more than the cost of a budget tyre.
I'm so glad we can all discuss issues such as this with positive and constructive comments
