Frozen handbrake - new cable needed?

similar to others my handbrake has been stuck on the last few mornings, and I've read this scould be due to a split gaiter at one end and hence cable could do with replacing. Do you agree, and if so, does anyone have experience doing it.. I can't find a manual for the 159 anywhere, so whilst I'm pretty sure its not a hard job to change, without any pics/guidance I guess I'm looking at an expensive dealer visit. Any help gratefully received!!!

You could always not use the handbrake and let the car in gear. Then when the weather gets better (no frezzing) you can use the handbrake again.
