I've just learnt a big lesson on trust and now need some help.
At some point in the last 6 months my locking wheel nut key has disappeared - 3 AR dealers have worked on the car and none accept responsibility. Fair enough - a new set of bolts is c.£25 and the main dealers can whip the old ones off with no problems.
Instead because my car's due back to ARUK quickly I decide to get the wheels refurbed and go to a local AR specialist agreeing verbally a sum to remove/refurb the wheels with him well aware he needed to remove the locked bolts. We even discussed/agreed that I had a set of replacements ordered from the local main dealer that he would get delivered and use.
All was going swimmingly until I get a matter of fact phone call to update me on progress with a 'oh and by the way it took us 6 hours to get your wheels off'
Sure enough when I return and get the bill I've been charged an additional £300 + VAT plus the cost of 3 x 22m sockets that were broken in the process.
Bill paid on credit card under protest but dealer now refuses to refund/discuss.
Any suggestions on
a) what have people been charged previously for similar
b) next steps before it goes to court
I'm sure the AR specialist concerned will read this so if there's any doubt to the actions/words of the parties involved I have all the emails.
