My lovely Glag Glag machine is making an odd noise at the 2000rpm mark. This is usually on the down stroke of the needle rather than the upstroke.
It sounds like an exhaust baffle or mounting that has worked loose. But when poking my head around it seems to come from the belt area of the engine rather than exhaust.
I am beginning to panic slightly, maybe a water pump on the way out? Maybe a belt fraying.....ahhhh......
Isn't it great how a simple noise can induce wallet melting scenarios in my head?!
The air con was re-charged a few weeks ago, I had the sound back then, but no change after a clean bill of health on the air con side of things.
And, please don't take offence diesel lovers, it is bleedin' difficult to trace a sound in the noise of the engine bay with glag glag in your ear!
Any experiences or ideas on the cause? I am due a 72K service in 2K miles, maybe book in early to be safe?
