I have been watching these Accelera threads time and time again, with great interest.
I personally have always been of the school of thought, to never scrimp on tyres, at the end of the day they are one of the most important aspects on your car, as infact it is your tyres that do most of the work and can either "Save or kill" you when needed! I have always ran premium tyres. My previous 156 GTA with 18" Multis and 2.5 V6 fitted with 17" GTA teles, I would ONLY ever fit Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s.
Now when I got the 159 Ti last year, it had Contis on the front, and Pirellis on the rears. Immediately I thought the Contis were Sh*te! These are meant to be premium brand tyres, but had poor grip and VERY noisy! I've had Contis in the past and this has always been my thought on them. They are hard wearing, but very poor in performance, especially in the wet! I've no real experience of the pirellis as they were fitted on the rear of my 159.
In the last 4+ months, I've been running 17s with winter tyres, but now that spring is approaching, I'm wanting to put the 19s back on, and looking for a set of 4 tyres, and I have to say....it is just impossible to not look towards the Acceleras....there is no denying it, its the PRICE and only the PRICE that appeals. It's just too much of a saving to not go for them....I do keep asking myself "Surely they can't be that bad?" It seems, everyone who has had a bad experience with them has had them on smaller sized wheels, but all those who have fitted them on 19" rims on Breras or 159s, have been praising them!? Wether it's just 19" wheel owners "Convincing" themselves they are good, as they have saved so much money on them, I don't know, but I think I will have to try them myself to find out! If they do end up being bad, then I would probably remove them....but the saving is too good to resist...
