I'm glad to see that you all think the 159 is such a great car (would be a little odd to be on an Alfa site if you didn't though).
I've been riding bikes for 12 years and haven't owned a car in all that time. I plan on swapping the bike for a car soon, as my son is almost one and I can't rely on my wife driving us everywhere. I decided I can only do this if the car is something special, as I'm not loosing all that power and the ability to filter to sit in a dull box all day.
Got my heart set on a diesel 159 Lusso. Not having driven anything except my wife's cars for a while, I'm wondering on the relative benefits of the 1.9 vs 2.0 vs 2.4. The 2.0 on paper appears to have the best balance of performance vs thirst, but at the moment it'd be too expensive. This leaves the 1.9 and 2.4. I've seen both models at prices I can afford, but was wondering which would be the best long term buy?
TBH I'm not expecting great acceleration etc, as even my worst bike had a better power to weight ratio than all of the engine choices. Therefore I'm thinking more of smiles per mile, handling if you will. Does the extra weight of the 2.4 affect cornering? Does it eat tires? Any tips would be great.
Thanks again. And Hi from a non Alfa owner looking to move into ownership.
